Hurricane Grill & Wings restaurant opens Monday at 3340 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. The building formerly housed TGI Friday’s, which closed in 2012.
Darin Beck, the franchisee, opened Hurricane Grill restaurants in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo within the last 20 months. The Palm Beach, Fla., restaurant chain has 70 locations in 15 states. Most are in Florida and along the East Coast.
The family-friendly restaurants feature chicken wings and a variety of seafood dishes. The West Des Moines restaurant will offer several Iowa craft beers.
Beck also operates the Stuffed Olive, Voodoo Lounge and Joker’s bars in downtown Des Moines, and restaurants and bars in Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids. His Cedar Falls-based company is called Barmuda.
Hurricane Grill in West Des Moines seats 210 people inside and 85 more on the outdoor patio.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
